study guide is useful You get out what you put in...If you use the book and spend the time to do all the problems, I think the repetition is very helpful to prepare for the test. It's a great guide and I love Kaplan products.This book has not evolved with the times The teaching sections of this course are still good, but the full length tests are not realistic in terms of difficulty (they are much easier than the real ACT), and there are still a good number of errors in the book that should be corrected. (I have tried to contact Kaplan to tell them of the errors but no one ever gets back to me.) The sections on the new writing section are good.Again, for the first half of the book this is a good buy. But the tests are not the best for preparing students for the real ACT.Helped our daughter improve her score 5 points. We got this for my daughter, who after taking an ACT Prep class as well as the test twice, was unhappy with her score.With the help of this book she was able to increase her score by 5 points to where she is now happy with it. We combined this book with Barron's ACT Flash Cards, 2nd Edition: 410 Flash Cards to Help You Achieve a Higher Score to help her focus on her weaker part. Not only did those improve, but the sections she had done well on, she made improvements as well.
