THE OFFICIAL BOOK, FULLY ENDORSED BY QUEEN ELIZABETH II

From Her Majesty’s trusted confidant and Dresser Angela Kelly LVO comes a lavishly designed book of never-before-seen photos of The Queen, Her wardrobe and Her jewels and features intimate anecdotes from Angela’s 25-year career working closely with Her Majesty. A truly unique keepsake and collectors’ item to be treasured.

‘For the nearly seven decades of her reign, Her Majesty The Queen has used clothing to create a powerful visual identity that transcends fashion and has made her perhaps the most readily identifiable person on the planet. Angela Kelly, building on the work of the great designers and milliners who have worked with Her Majesty through the years – including couturiers Sir Norman Hartnell, Sir Hardy Amies, and Ian Thomas, and milliners such as Simone Mirman and Freddy Fox – brings her own imagination to bear on an iconic ‘uniform’ that suggests continuity and tradition, and ensures that the wearer is always the most visible person in a room or a crowd.’–Anna Wintour, Vogue

When Angela Kelly and The Queen are together, laughter echoes through the corridors of Buckingham Palace. Angela has worked with The Queen and walked the corridors of the Royal Household for twenty-five years, initially as Her Majesty’s Senior Dresser and then latterly as Her Majesty’s Personal Advisor, Curator, Wardrobe and In-house Designer. As the first person in history to hold this title, she shares a uniquely close working relationship with The Queen.

In The Other Side of the Coin, The Queen has personally given Angela her blessing to share their extraordinary bond with the world. Whether it’s preparing for a formal occasion or brightening Her Majesty’s day with a playful joke, Angela’s priority is to serve and support. Sharing never-before-seen photographs – many from Angela’s own private collection – and charming anecdotes of their time spent together, this revealing book provides memorable insights into what it’s like to work closely with The Queen, to curate her wardrobe and to discover a true and lasting connection along the way.

‘The book documents the unique working relationship between Her Majesty The Queen and the woman who has been her Personal Assistant and Senior Dresser for more than two decades: Angela Kelly. It gives a rare insight into the demands of the job of supporting the Monarch, and we gain privileged insight into a successful working relationship, characterized by humor, creativity, hard work, and a mutual commitment to service and duty. Angela is a talented and inspiring woman, who has captured the highlights of her long career with The Queen for us all to share.’ –Samantha Cohen, Assistant Private Secretary to The Queen (2011–2018)

This book is a lasting gift from Her Majesty and her friend, Angela. I’m on page 21. The magnificence of this book astounds me! I hardly have words—personable, respectful, grateful, loyal, fun. An amazing gift to the world from two friends. 💞Fascinating reveal about the beautiful royal wardrobe! Lovely book. Wonderful photos. However, my hard copy arrived damaged! After contacting Amazon, my hardcover was replaced immediately. Now it’s a five star book! One needs the hard copy to appreciate the beautiful fabrics and colors of the Queen’s wardrobe. The author has taken special care of both the friendship and the wardrobe!Very fun read I enjoyed this book a great deal the pictures were extraordinary. The text was fun and light and gives a bit of a glimpse of the Queen behind the scenes

A decadent rock star. A deeply religious radio host. A disgraced scientist. And a teenage girl who may be the world’s last hope. From the mind of Chuck Wendig comes “a magnum opus . . . a story about survival that’s not just about you and me, but all of us, together” (Kirkus Reviews, starred review).

Shana wakes up one morning to discover her little sister in the grip of a strange malady. She appears to be sleepwalking. She cannot talk and cannot be woken up. And she is heading with inexorable determination to a destination that only she knows. But Shana and her sister are not alone. Soon they are joined by a flock of sleepwalkers from across America, on the same mysterious journey. And like Shana, there are other “shepherds” who follow the flock to protect their friends and family on the long dark road ahead.

For as the sleepwalking phenomenon awakens terror and violence in America, the real danger may not be the epidemic but the fear of it. With society collapsing all around them—and an ultraviolent militia threatening to exterminate them—the fate of the sleepwalkers depends on unraveling the mystery behind the epidemic. The terrifying secret will either tear the nation apart—or bring the survivors together to remake a shattered world.

Advance praise for Wanderers

Title: Grit Pdf The Power of Passion and Perseverance

One of "The Hottest Spring Nonfiction Books"—The Wall Street JournalA "Leadership Book to Watch for in 2016"—The Washington PostA "Must-Read Business Book for 2016"—Forbes“Grit delves into the personal ingredients of great success. It’s worth reading…the gist is that talent and skill are less valuable than effort.” —Andrew Ross Sorkin, The New York Times"It really isn't talent but practice—along with passion—that makes perfect, explains psychologist Duckworth in this illuminating book. Inspiration for non-geniuses everywhere."—People“Grit is a pop-psych smash.” —The New Yorker“With Grit, Duckworth has now put out the definitive handbook for her theory of success. It parades from one essential topic to another on a float of common sense, tossing out scientific insights.” —Slate"If you have recently bumped into that word, grit, Duckworth is the reason...In education and parenting circles, her research has provided a much needed antipode to hovering, by which children are systematically deprived of the opportunity to experience setbacks, much less overcome them...What sticks with you [in Grit] are the testimonials, collected from sources as disparate as Will Smith, William James, and Jeff Bezos's mom, that relentlessly deflate the myth of the natural."—The Atlantic"A fascinating tour of the psychological research on success...A great service of Ms. Duckworth's book is her down-to-earth definition of passion. To be gritty, an individual doesn't need to have an obsessive infatuation with a goal. Rather, he needs to show 'consistency over time.' The grittiest people have developed long-term goals and are constantly working toward them."—The Wall Street Journal“Duckworth is the researcher most associated with the study and popularization of grit.  And yet what I like about her new book, Grit, is the way she is pulling away from the narrow, joyless intonations of that word, and pointing us beyond the way many schools are now teaching it…Most important, she notes that the quality of our longing matters.  Gritty people are resilient and hard working, sure.  But they also, she writes, know in a very, very deep way what it is they want.” —David Brooks, New York Times Angela Duckworth, PhD, is a 2013 MacArthur Fellow and professor of psychology at the University of Pennsylvania. She has advised the White House, the World Bank, NBA and NFL teams, and Fortune 500 CEOs. She is also the Founder and Scientific Director of the Character Lab, a nonprofit whose mission is to advance the science and practice of character development. She completed her BA in neurobiology at Harvard, her MSc in neuroscience at Oxford, and her PhD in psychology at the University of Pennsylvania. Grit: The Power of Passion and Perseverance is her first book and an instant New York Times bestseller.

In her instant, multi-month New York Times bestseller, Angela Duckworth shows anyone striving to succeed that the secret to outstanding achievement is not talent, but a special blend of passion and persistence she calls “grit.” “Inspiration for non-geniuses everywhere” (People).

The daughter of a scientist who frequently noted her lack of “genius,” Angela Duckworth is now a celebrated researcher and professor. It was her early eye-opening stints in teaching, business consulting, and neuroscience that led to her hypothesis about what really drives success: not genius, but a unique combination of passion and long-term perseverance.

In Grit, she takes us into the field to visit cadets struggling through their first days at West Point, teachers working in some of the toughest schools, and young finalists in the National Spelling Bee. She also mines fascinating insights from history and shows what can be gleaned from modern experiments in peak performance. Finally, she shares what she’s learned from interviewing dozens of high achievers—from JP Morgan CEO Jamie Dimon to New Yorker cartoon editor Bob Mankoff to Seattle Seahawks Coach Pete Carroll.

“Duckworth’s ideas about the cultivation of tenacity have clearly changed some lives for the better” (The New York Times Book Review). Among Grit’s most valuable insights: any effort you make ultimately counts twice toward your goal; grit can be learned, regardless of IQ or circumstances; when it comes to child-rearing, neither a warm embrace nor high standards will work by themselves; how to trigger lifelong interest; the magic of the Hard Thing Rule; and so much more. Winningly personal, insightful, and even life-changing, Grit is a book about what goes through your head when you fall down, and how that—not talent or luck—makes all the difference. This is “a fascinating tour of the psychological research on success” (The Wall Street Journal).

Good stories, difficult to justify a full book I commend the author for her effort on this book. The stories of people with the ability to persist are lively and interesting, but the overall feeling is of reading small vignette style biographies of people who are smarter, better, and more talented than you are, with anecdotal insights sprinkled throughout. There's a measure of inspiration in her foundational message that, through hard work and persistence, you can become the best version of yourself. Her main point is that it's unlikely that you know your own limits, and that the act of striving against them each day can take you to an unexpectedly good place. However, the true value of this book would have been to teach us the best methods for increasing and maintaining our own grit, and to show that those methods are proven through research. Unfortunately, that doesn't yet exist because the research hasn't been conducted, except in a preliminary fashion.Because that answer doesn't exist, the book and stories are reduced to a collection of recitations of interviews of successful people, not unlike other business and self-help books. It has a dusting of authority from the author herself, since she has substantially contributed to the field. An interested reader can glean their own lessons from that material, in additions to the insights the author provides. Still, the book lacks true weight, and would be greatly served by an update in a few years as the author and her peers conduct more research on the subject. If you saw the author's TED talk on grit, there is not much you will learn from reading this book I normally never post a review on Amazon, but in this case I simply could not stop mysefl from posting it, as I had great expectations about this book after seeying the TED talk of Ms. Duckworth and hearing a Freakonomics podcast with her. In the end, I was disappointed. Please also excuse grammar/ spelling, as I'm writing this from Russia and I'm not a native English speaker. This book tells us that grit (and not talent or luck) is essential for success in life. The reader will find multiple anecdotes on how so-and-so achieved much by perseverence, passion and not giving up.So half of the book is dedicated to showing a reader how important is grit for success (quite convincingly, but to my taste, way too extensively; couple of anecdotes and studies mentioned would have done as good as these several chapters). Along with anecdotes some (quite robust) scientific evidence is given. What the book lacks completely, is scientifically based advice HOW TO BUILD GRIT. As someone, who struggles to be gritty in my daily life, I had great hopes to find valuable hints in this book. There are a few, but very "soft" ones (like the author assumes they should work, but being honest with the reader, concedes that there is no evidence behind these tips).Nothing new here. Save yourself the read. First off, this book is very well written. Has a nice flow to it and is easy to understand. That said...This book reminds me of how the government will spend millions of dollars on a study to tell you something you already know: "After an exhaustive multi-year study costing $10 million dollars, we have concluded that ice is cold to the touch." This book is very much like that. I can't think of one single concept presented in the book that isn't already common knowledge. Example: Hard work and perseverance can make up for lack of talent. Who doesn't already know this? Here's another one: People who like what they are doing (passion), usually do better than those who do not. Every single point made in this book is about that profound. And, if you are looking for proven ways to increase you own "grit," forget about it--they are not there. This material might make for a good 10-page whitepaper, but it isn't nearly deep enough to make into a 300 page book. Because of that, there is just major filler in the form of stories about successful people.Lastly, like another reviewer pointed out, this book has a self-righteous undertone to it. The author burns a lot of ink making sure you think she's smart and important.I'll save you $20: The most successful people work really hard at something they like and don't give up.

The Wisdom of the Enneagram Free Pdf

ISBN: 0553378201
Title: The Wisdom of the Enneagram Pdf The Complete Guide to Psychological and Spiritual Growth for the Nine Personality Types

Recommended by two highly credible authorities, consciousness explorer Ken Wilber and spiritual-growth guru Harville Hendrix, this compendium of Enneagram information was assembled by the cofounders of the Enneagram Institute as an introduction to the subject. Designed with a plenitude of charts, boxes, and quotes (by noted illuminaries such as A.H. Almaas, Maya Angelou, and G.I. Gurjieff), this exceptionally easy-to-use, manual-size paperback teaches the reader how to figure out which of the nine types she is, identifies red flags to self-illusion, and provides practical suggestions for spiritual growth. Advice on how to observe your type's fixations and let go of the need to act out automatic and dysfunctional behavioral responses are down-to-earth and attainable. A distinctly accessible approach to cultivating daily happiness through understanding the complexity of fixations that weave together human personality types. --Randall Cohan "The Wisdom of the Enneagram is a very important book. By combining the horizontal types of the Enneagram with a system of vertical levels of awareness, Riso and Hudson have produced one of the first truly integrated models of the human psyche. In addition to the importance of this pioneering work itself, it goes to point up the utter inadequacy of anything less than a full-spectrum model of human growth and development. Highly recommended."--Ken Wilber, author of The Marriage of Sense and Soul"I highly recommend this book, not only to anyone on the path of personal transformation, but to anyone who wants to understand the complex inner world of others, whether a spouse, family member co-worker or friend. The questionnaires were fun and illuminating. I received some very helpful information about myself, felt challenged to grow and experienced a deepening of compassion. Perhaps the most profound contribution of The Wisdom of the Enneagram is reflected in the word "Wisdom." The authors clearly communicate the complexity of human nature, the spiritual yearning resonant in all of us, and the ascending levels of our possibility. But they do not leave us there. They offer a clear path for personal and spiritual evolution."--Harville Hendrix, Ph.D., author of Getting the Love You Want"Don Riso and Russ Hudson thoughtfully engage the richness and depth of the Enneagram, and conjure with its power as a tool of transformation. The Wisdom of the Enneagram is filled with its own wisdom and depth. You'll find yourself returning to it over and over again and discovering new treasures."--Tony Schwartz, author of What Really Matters"The Wisdom of the Enneagram is not only a clear and comprehensive description and discussion of this ancient personality typology, but also a major and original contribution to its use and further development. Don Riso and Russ Hudson have designed simple practical guidelines and tests that make it possible to determine one's own personality type and use this knowledge for healing and psychospiritual transformation."--Stanislav Grof, M.D., author of The Adventure of Self-Discovery

The first definitive guide to using the wisdom of the enneagram for spiritual and psychological growth

The ancient symbol of the Enneagram has become one of today's most popular systems for self-understanding, based on nine distinct personality types. Now, two of the world's foremost Enneagram authorities introduce a powerful new way to use the Enneagram as a tool for personal transformation and development. Whatever your spiritual background, the Enneagram shows how you can overcome your inner barriers, realize your unique gifts and strengths, and discover your deepest direction in life.

The Wisdom of the Enneagram includes:

Two highly accurate questionnaires for determining your type
Vivid individual profiles focused on maximizing each type's potential and minimizing predictable pitfalls
Spiritual Jump Starts, Wake-Up Calls, and Red Flags for each type
Dozens of individualized exercises and practical strategies for letting go of troublesome habits, improving relationships, and increasing inner freedom
Revealing insights into the deepest motivations, fears, and desires of each type

Highly accessible, yet filled with sophisticated concepts and techniques found nowhere else, The Wisdom of the Enneagram is a strikingly new fusion of psychology and spirituality. It offers an exciting vision of human possibility and a clear map of the nine paths to our highest self-expression.

Completely recommended. I've know about the Enneagrams for about 10 years, and read summaries of the system. It seemed an intriguing explanation of behaviors and motivations. When I hit a sticky patch in my life I bought a copy and found it immensely helpful is understanding (without condemnation) the interactions of myself with others. The book is written in such a way you can absorb it at whatever level suits where you are at. For people seeking a spiritual pathway, there is plenty to get your teeth into. But if, like me, you are more anchored in pragmatism, there is also a great quantity of useful and thought-provoking material. What I particularly liked was how the concepts embraced all Religious and philosophical systems. It was not confronting; the less attractive aspects of the personality types were balanced with the attractive. to either formal codes of belief or personal ones. Gentle humour helped dispel any points that could betaken as personal criticism. I especially appreciated the reference to arranging the spice shelf alphabetically. (Oops, mea culpa!)I can see I shall be dipping in and out of this book for many many years to come. I shall get new insights and old reminders about how my personality type deals with Life and how I can utilise those traits to maximise my experience to positive advantage.I recommend this book to anyone who feels the need to add some insight into their lives. Riso and Hudson offer interesting, thoughtful and useful ways to navigate personal transformation. My only complaint is that the book cover of the paperback copy is very flimsy and gets curly and worn very easily.Personality: from disorders to enlightenment Now I finally, really understand the Enneagram. The missing piece for me was that the instinct (default emotion) for care-givers, go-getters, and individualists is shame rather than sadness. I love that it gives a scale for how each type evolves. These personality types (identified in the 1950s) are now backed by neuroscience. What we value (control, connection, certainty) determines where your attention is directed. The brain likes to specialize in a "de-fault" emotion: anger (control), shame (connection), and fear (certainty). Anyone who wants to understand personality from disorders to enlightenment should read this book or learn about the Enneagram!Best of the Enneagram Books This is the best of the Enneagram books, in my opinion, and I've read about 10. This is really a "textbook" enneagram source. It's the most thorough, getting into the different levels, wings, and triades in detail. Also, more organized with out they lay out and present the content. INcludes helpful diagrams as well. The Enneagram of personality is a great tool to help you better understand yourself and others. It's also great to understand where you're at and what it looks like or what it takes for you to "transcend" and really be in your element, so to speak, being a healthy, confident, effective and helpful person in the world. Helps you reach your potential!

The Beekeeper's Bible Download

ISBN: 1584799188
Title: The Beekeeper's Bible Pdf Bees, Honey, Recipes & Other Home Uses
Author: Richard Jones
Published Date: 2011-04-01
Page: 416
The Beekeeper’s Bible is as much an ultimate guide to the practical essentials of beekeeping as it is a beautiful almanac to be read from cover to cover. Part history book, part handbook, and part cookbook, this illustrated tome covers every facet of the ancient hobby of beekeeping, from how to manage hives safely to harvesting one's own honey, and ideas for how to use honey and beeswax. Detailed instructions for making candles, furniture polish, beauty products, and nearly 100 honey-themed recipes are included. Fully illustrated with how-to photography and unique etchings, any backyard enthusiast or gardener can confidently dive into beekeeping with this book in hand (or daydream about harvesting their own honey while relaxing in the comfort of an armchair).

Praise for The Beekeeper's Bible:

"Jones and Sweeney-Lynch explain the science and society of bees in clear, accessible language. And the recipes are admirably useful: honey scones, honey soap, honey hangover cures. 'Oh, stuff and fluff,' as Pooh might say. Dip a paw into this richly satisfying volume and you won't have to do stoutness exercises."
 -The New York Times

“Lip-smackin’ throughout, The Beekeeper's Bible is, at its heart, a glorious invitation into the depths of the honeybee hive.” —Chicago Tribune

"An elegant, information-packed addition to the library of the most serious beekeeper." —Better Homes & Gardens Country Gardens
“An amazing compendium of information, lore, facts, tips, techniques, and benefits of having bees in your life—whether you choose to keep a hive yourself, enjoy the by-products, or just appreciate these wonderful creatures for all that they contribute to our human ecosystem.”
—About.com

Great coffee table book for beekeepers This is a lovely book with a little bit of information on a great many honeybee related topics. It touches almost everything but not many things in great depth. That's OK, because if I have a problem, I am more likely to do internet research. I'd say the most useful things about the book are the recipes and the interest for people who come to the house and want to know more without becoming deeply technical. Great coffee table beekeeping book!A useful reference guide every beekeeper should have on hand Purchased this as a gift for my husband. He's into his second year of beekeeping. I read a lot of the reviews and based my decision on that when purchasing - so glad, because he loves this book. He has various books he references, and this is one of his favorites. He likes that it has a lot of information including the history of beekeeping. For a complete newbie, he still recommends Beekeeping for Dummies - very informative read, you'll learn the essentials in this step-by-step how-to.Fifty Years Among the Bees -also a good read.Really informative! I didn't really know much about beekeeping and bees...until I read through this book! This book really offers great information for aspiring beekeepers. I'm sure it would be just as valuable for experienced beekeepers as well. My boyfriend and I plan on starting a local farm and Co-op in the future with a variety of organically and sustainably produced food and goods. This book really helped me learn a lot about what it is like to have bees and helped me become better informed on the lives of bees. I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in bees, especially in beekeeping. This book has history of bees, about bees, about beekeeping, and recipes. It's really an all-in-one book. Even though I have already read through the whole book, I will definitely be using it in the future to look things up again and reference it.
