After the Renegade mission by the crew of the starship Flying Dutchman, the UN Expeditionary Force thought Earth was safe for hundreds of years, at least.
After there was trouble on the home front, and the president had to authorize a nuclear strike on an American city, UNEF decided they did need the Merry Band of Pirates again.
So, the Flying Dutchman is sent out on a simple recon mission. But for the pirates, nothing is ever simple, and their mission will become Armageddon.
Keep it up Mr Alanson Fantastic story! Keep up the good work! Can't wait for the next one! I couldn't wait for Armageddon to come out. Once it hit my Kindle I couldn't put it down until it was done. I will of course listen to the audiobook as soon as it comes out too. Valkyrie is going to be awesome. I can already tell. Great work!!Getting stale The Jhon/Skippy everyone going to die we need awesomess dynamic is getting stale.There are some world building that makes big promises but I foresee no way for the marry band of pirate's to do anything about it.Craig has painted himself into an corner in regards to technology, monkeys can never understand it. Thys here can not be an armada of human ships and epic battles since we can not build the ships.Craig FTW, AGAIN! One of my favorite things about Expeditionary Force is Craig's ability to mix seat-of-the-pants nervous excitement about nearly continuous cliffhangers sprinkled throughout his books, with humor, a hint of legitimate science, and a great military Sci-fi story containing plenty of nerdy easter egg references to other famous sci-fi works. This book was my favorite of the series. I particularly loved how he defeated his own record of setting up each subsequent book with a bigger and jucier cliffhanger than the previous book in the series - Armageddon takes the cake. If he supersedes the cliffhanger in this book with one, much less each of the multiple stories left in this series, I'm not sure my emotions will be able to handle the intensity.The ending of this book foreshadowed potential short term problems at earth from a third tier species, acknowledged pending Armageddon for the humans at the hands of one or both apex species, left us wondering what scared the most powerful species in the history of the galaxy enough to run them off to a non-corporial existence (while insinuating Skippy and the humans could do something about a threat even the Elders fled from), and mentioned the need of the MBoP to do address both senior species possessing their own Elder AIs.The ending setup half a dozen more books with these unanswered questions.Craig, if you read this review. I HAAAAAATE you, you stupid monkey!!! I hope the universe comes back to kick you in the a$$ for what you do to us, the fans of your books. My heart can't take much more of this.
