DOUGLAS C. MONTGOMERY, PhD, is Regents Professor of Industrial Engineering and Statistics at Arizona State University. Dr. Montgomery is a Fellow of the American Statistical Association, the American Society for Quality, the Royal Statistical Society, and the Institute of Industrial Engineers and has more than thirty years of academic and consulting experience. He has devoted his research to engineering statistics, specifically the design and analysis of experiments, statistical methods for process monitoring and optimization, and the analysis of time-oriented data. Dr. Montgomery is the coauthor of Generalized Linear Models: With Applications in Engineering and the Sciences, Second Edition and Introduction to Time Series Analysis and Forecasting, both published by Wiley.

Very Very Hard Material Well if you want one of the hardest reading books/classes possible, this book is for you. It does teach great concepts but the subject matter difficulty will be very hard for most. Have a strong math background.This text is terrible!! This text is horrible. It is written in a way that only people who already know the subject can clearly understand what it is saying. Many times, it references some other writing as a place to go to learn more about the subject. Some of the exercises involved concepts that were not even mentioned in the chapter.Excellent book I am getting an undergrad in stats and have found that most of the stats courses offered through the math department at my university are geared either towards mathematicians (heavy on the proofs) or engineers/scientists with very little emphasis given to applying stats to business problems. On the other hand the applied stats courses offered through the business school are not nearly adequate in developing the underlying theory of either probability or statistical inference. This is an excellent book that bridges the space between business applications and mathematical statistics. I would highly recommend it to someone coming from either end of the spectrum (math vs. business).
